The Art of David Lean

David Lean was born on March 25, 1908, in Croydon, Surrey, England. Lean started his film career as an editor in the 1930s. He quickly became England’s most sought-after editor. In the 1940s, Lean began directing and writing his own films. Known as a tireless perfectionist, Lean’s films are admired all around the world. He has influenced countless of filmmakers. Lean died on April 16, 1991.
